How do I get an offer for my AP?
Send the full reference from your paperwork if available, for example 15510ST.OO.1320ST.08, plus photos of the dial, both case sides, the caseback and the bracelet laid flat. Include a note on what comes with the watch. The case number engraved on the caseback identifies the individual watch and should not be confused with the model reference. Do not open the caseback yourself.
We usually respond with an initial offer the same day. It becomes final after the watch is inspected and authenticated. Start your submission.

How Audemars Piguet Watches Are Valued
AP's long reference numbers describe the model, material and configuration, so the reference does a lot of the work. The rest comes from the watch itself.
| Factor | What we check |
|---|---|
| Reference number | Model, material code (ST steel, OR rose gold, BA yellow gold, BC white gold, CE ceramic), and dial and bracelet codes. |
| Case material | Steel, gold, two-tone and ceramic versions are compared with the same material and reference. Demand varies by configuration. |
| Size | Common Royal Oak sizes include 37, 39 and 41 mm; many Offshores are 42 to 44 mm. Other sizes exist, so we check the exact reference. |
| Dial configuration | Dial color, pattern and originality, compared with the correct configuration for the reference. |
| Bracelet condition | The integrated bracelet's wear, taper and finishing, and whether all links are present. |
| Movement and complications | Caliber correct for the reference; chronograph and other functions working. |
| Originality | Factory dial, hands and bezel; factory or aftermarket gem-setting. |
| Service history | AP service records and any parts replaced. |
| Box and papers | Warranty documentation matching the watch, box and booklets. |
| Production era | Current, discontinued, or vintage, and which generation of a reference. |
| Market demand | How that exact reference is trading now, using comparable sales, marketplace listings such as Chrono24, and analytics sources such as WatchCharts. |
How Royal Oak configuration changes value
- Jumbo vs. Selfwinding. The 39 mm Jumbo Extra-Thin (15202ST, then 16202ST from 2022) and the 41 mm Selfwinding (15400ST, 15500ST, 15510ST) look similar but have different movements and buyer pools.
- Generation. When AP replaces a reference, demand for the outgoing one can rise or fall. We price your generation as it trades now.
- Dial. Within one reference, dial color can separate two otherwise similar watches.
- Metal. Steel, two-tone, solid gold and ceramic versions can trade at different levels; material alone does not determine value.
- Case finishing. The brushed surfaces and polished bevels are the Royal Oak's signature. Crisp, well-preserved edges can command a premium over heavily softened ones.
An estimated market value isn't an offer. Dealer asking prices may include margin and warranty. Our initial offer is subject to inspection and authentication, after which you decide whether to accept the final amount. For broader context on AP pricing, see how much Audemars Piguet watches cost.
Ready for a number? Send the reference and a few clear photos, and we'll tell you what helped the offer and what held it back.
Get an offer for your APRoyal Oak vs. Royal Oak Offshore: What Changes at Resale
| Factor | Royal Oak | Royal Oak Offshore |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Many familiar references are 37 to 41 mm; case geometry and finishing are important condition checks. | Many references are larger and thicker, often 42 to 44 mm. Dimensions vary by model. |
| Materials | Steel and gold are familiar examples; other materials also appear. | Includes steel, ceramic, titanium and forged carbon, depending on the reference. |
| Wear points | Bezel bevels, bracelet wear and clasp. | Crown and pushers, straps and case surfaces; inspect rubber-clad components where fitted. |
| Editions | Core references and special editions are assessed individually. | Limited and special editions require comparison with the exact version. |
| Buyer pool | Demand varies by reference, size, material and dial. | Demand is reference- and edition-specific; rarity alone does not guarantee a premium. |
AP Serial Numbers and Authentication
Audemars Piguet watches carry a case number and a separate movement number. These help identify a watch and compare it with its documentation. A number alone can't prove a watch is genuine: counterfeits can copy real numbers.
Authentication requires physical inspection. Depending on the model, we examine the dial and tapisserie pattern, bevel and bracelet finishing, bezel screws, movement finishing and caliber, weight, and whether the papers describe the watch in front of us. Internal inspection should be carried out by a qualified professional. Our Audemars Piguet serial number guide explains the identifiers.
Selling a Vintage or Discontinued AP
Discontinued Audemars Piguet references can retain resale value, and some attract collector interest after leaving production. Early Royal Oaks such as the 5402ST, references such as the 14790, and the original Offshore 25721 are assessed against comparable examples.
Originality matters: the factory dial, hands and bracelet, and a case that hasn't been heavily polished. A worn original may appeal more to collectors than a heavily restored example, depending on condition and reference. The history of Audemars Piguet covers the references and eras collectors look for.

Selling an Audemars Piguet: FAQs
How much is my Audemars Piguet worth?
It depends on the exact reference, size, metal, dial, condition, originality, papers and current demand for that reference. Two Royal Oaks with similar looks can be far apart in value. Send the reference and photos for an initial offer, usually the same day. The final offer follows inspection and authentication.
Do you buy Royal Oak Offshore watches?
Yes, eligible chronographs, divers and special editions. Offshores are priced by exact reference and edition, with attention to crowns, pushers, straps and rubber-clad components where fitted.
Can I sell an AP without papers?
Yes, we consider eligible watches without papers. Missing documentation may affect the offer, but does not automatically disqualify the watch. We authenticate it physically either way.
Do discontinued AP watches have resale value?
Yes. Discontinued references such as the 15202ST, 15400ST and 15500ST can have resale value, and some vintage pieces attract collector interest. We assess each watch using current comparable examples; discontinuation alone does not guarantee appreciation.
Does polishing affect AP resale value?
It can, particularly when polishing softens the Royal Oak's brushed surfaces and sharp polished bevels. The effect depends on the quality of the work and the watch's condition. Ask for an evaluation before polishing solely to sell.
Can I sell my AP nationwide?
Yes. We buy from sellers in all 50 states using a prepaid, tracked, insured FedEx overnight label, and New York sellers can meet by appointment. We don't buy from outside the United States.
How is payment handled?
By bank wire, our only payment method. After inspection and authentication, and once you accept the final offer, we send the wire the same day. When funds appear depends on your bank.
