Sell My Patek Philippe Watch
Le Watch Buyers buys eligible Patek Philippe watches outright, from steel Nautilus and Aquanaut references to precious-metal Calatravas and complications. We evaluate each watch by its full reference, not its collection name. You receive an initial offer, followed by a firm final offer after inspection and authentication.
Patek Philippe submissions are evaluated by Xenon, Lead Appraiser at Le Watch Buyers, New York. We buy from owners in all 50 states.

How do I get an offer for my Patek Philippe?
Send us the full reference number from your papers if available (for example 5167A-001), clear photos of the dial, case sides, caseback and clasp or buckle, and a list of what comes with the watch: Certificate of Origin, Extract from the Archives, box, and service records. Do not open the caseback yourself; leave any inspection of internal markings to a qualified professional.
We usually respond with an initial offer the same day. That offer becomes final once the watch is inspected and authenticated. Start your submission.
Patek Philippe Collections We Buy
We review every Patek Philippe individually and will tell you upfront if a piece isn't one we can make an offer on. These are the collections we see most.
Nautilus
5711/1A · 5712/1A · 5726/1A · 5980/1A · 7118/1AThe integrated bracelet is part of the value. Bracelet stretch and the condition of the brushed and polished case surfaces are checked closely.
Aquanaut
5167A · 5168G · 5164A · 5968AUsually on Patek's composite strap, so the case, dial and the strap's own wear are read separately.
Calatrava
5196 · 5227 · 6119Mostly precious-metal dress watches. Dial condition, case originality and the exact reference are important parts of the evaluation.
Complications
5205 · 5396 annual calendars · 5230 world time · 5172 chronographEvery function is tested, and the movement is checked against the reference.
Grand Complications
5320G · 5270 perpetual calendars · split-seconds · repeatersDocumentation, condition and service history are especially important. These pieces are reviewed case by case.
Golden Ellipse and vintage
3738 · 5738 · Calatrava 96 and 2526 · Nautilus 3700Selected vintage references, where originality and provenance can have a major effect on value.
How Patek Philippe Watches Are Valued
Two Patek Philippes that share a collection name can be very different watches. A Nautilus 5711/1A in steel and a 5980/1R chronograph in rose gold are both “a Nautilus,” but they have different movements, metals and buyer pools. That's why every offer starts with the full reference.
| Factor | What we check | Why it moves the offer |
|---|---|---|
| Reference and era | The model reference, suffix and dial configuration, and when that version was produced. | Sets the comparison range. Different configurations of the same model can trade differently. |
| Movement and complications | Caliber correct for the reference; every function working. | A complication that needs repair is priced in, and an incorrect movement requires further investigation. |
| Case material | Steel, white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum, read from the reference suffix and hallmarks. | Value depends on the exact reference and demand; precious metal does not automatically command more than steel. |
| Dial configuration | Dial color and variant, and whether it is original or a replacement. | The dial can be a significant value difference within one reference. |
| Condition | Case geometry and polishing, crystal, bracelet or strap, and running condition. | Crisp, well-preserved cases can command a premium over heavily refinished examples. |
| Original components | Hands, crown, clasp and bracelet correct for the reference. | Replacements may affect collector value, especially on vintage pieces. |
| Service history | Patek Philippe service papers and documentation of work performed. | Documented service helps us assess maintenance history and changes to components. |
| Box and papers | Certificate of Origin matching the watch, box, and any Extract from the Archives. | A complete set can improve the offer; an Extract is supporting documentation, not a replacement Certificate. |
| Provenance | Original purchase records, documented ownership history. | Can matter significantly on vintage and rare pieces. |
| Market demand | How that exact reference is trading now. | Patek prices move reference by reference, not as a brand. |
Four numbers that get confused
Owners researching value usually find four different figures. A purchase offer is different from a listing or a market estimate.
| Number | What it is | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Asking price | What a seller or dealer lists the watch for on a marketplace. | A seller's expectation, not proof of a completed sale. Dealer prices may include margin, warranty and time to sell. |
| Completed sale | What a comparable watch actually sold for, including auction results. | Better evidence than listings, but adjust for condition, papers, date and any auction fees included. |
| Estimated market value | A range built from asking prices and completed sales, such as an analytics estimate. | Context, not a commitment. |
| Direct-purchase offer | An amount a buyer offers for your specific watch, subject to any stated inspection conditions. | Our final offer follows inspection and authentication. It reflects our cost to authenticate, hold and resell. |
We price against completed sales and current listings from open marketplaces such as Chrono24 and analytics sources such as WatchCharts, plus auction results for vintage pieces. For a sense of retail pricing across the collections, see how much a Patek Philippe costs.
Want the fourth number? Send the reference and a few photos, and we'll explain what helped the offer and what held it back.
Get my Patek Philippe offerPatek Philippe Reference Numbers and Documentation
A Patek Philippe carries three types of identifying number, and each does a different job.
- Reference number, such as 5711/1A-010: identifies the model and configuration. It tells us what the watch should be.
- Movement number: engraved on the movement and useful for identification and archival research, especially on older pieces.
- Case number: engraved inside the caseback. It isn't expected to match the movement number; each is checked against its own entry in the papers.
The Certificate of Origin issued at sale records the watch's identifying numbers. Patek Philippe does not issue a replacement Certificate if it is lost. An Extract from the Archives provides information from Patek Philippe's historical records; it does not replace the Certificate of Origin or certify the watch's present authenticity. Extracts are available under Patek's current terms for eligible watches first sold more than 10 years ago, for a fee. Check those terms before ordering one.
Do not open the caseback yourself. Patek Philippe advises using an Authorized Retailer or Service Center to inspect internal numbers. None of these numbers proves a watch is genuine on its own, and none sets its current value. Counterfeits can copy real numbers. Authentication means checking the numbers, papers, movement and finishing together. Our Patek Philippe serial number guide explains the identifiers and dating evidence.
Selling a Vintage Patek Philippe
Vintage Patek Philippe is valued on different terms from modern references. Originality matters: an untouched dial, original hands and well-preserved case can be more important to collectors than minor cosmetic wear.
Restoration cuts both ways. A refinished dial or a heavily polished case can lower collector value. Service by Patek Philippe may involve replacing parts; discuss the proposed work and any parts-return policy before authorizing it. Include service records and any original components you already have. Rarity and documented provenance can lift a vintage piece beyond its reference's typical level; an Extract supports archival history rather than proving a chain of ownership.
For important vintage pieces, auction is a legitimate route worth weighing, and we'll say so if we think yours fits. The history of Patek Philippe explains the eras collectors focus on.

Selling a Patek Philippe: FAQs
How much is my Patek Philippe worth?
It depends on the full reference, dial, metal, condition, originality, papers and how that reference is trading now. Collection averages can be misleading. Send the reference and photos for an initial offer, usually the same day. The final offer follows inspection and authentication.
Can I sell a Patek without papers?
Yes, we consider eligible watches without a Certificate of Origin. Missing papers may affect the offer. An Extract from the Archives can provide supporting historical information for eligible watches, but does not replace the Certificate of Origin or authenticate the watch. Ask us before ordering one just to sell.
Do you buy vintage Patek Philippe watches?
Yes, selected vintage references. Originality and provenance drive value. Don't refinish the dial or polish the case first, and include your service records and any original components you have.
Does servicing affect resale value?
Documented service by Patek Philippe helps establish maintenance history, but servicing solely to sell may not recover its cost. Replacing original parts or refinishing a case can affect collector value, especially on vintage pieces. Discuss the proposed work and parts-return policy before authorizing service.
How is an Aquanaut valued differently from a Nautilus?
A Nautilus is often on an integrated steel or gold bracelet, so bracelet condition and stretch are important factors. Many Aquanauts come on Patek's composite strap, so evaluation includes the case, dial, strap and clasp condition. Both are priced by exact reference, and each has its own buyer pool.
How do I safely ship my Patek Philippe?
Once you accept an initial offer, we send a prepaid, tracked, insured FedEx overnight label and shipping instructions. Use an unmarked outer box with appropriate padding, never write the brand on the package, and photograph the watch before sealing it.
How do I receive payment?
By bank wire, our only payment method. After the watch is inspected and authenticated and you accept the final offer, we send the wire the same day. When funds appear depends on your bank.
